Our commitment

Environmental Policy

How we manage and reduce our environmental impact as an IT support and Virtual CISO business, in plain English.

Aligned with ISO 14001:2015
Version 1.0 Issued July 2026 Reviewed at least annually
Purpose

Small business, real responsibility

Gibberish Limited provides managed IT support, cyber security and Virtual CISO services to small and medium sized businesses across London and the Home Counties. We are a small business and our direct environmental impact is modest.

We recognise, though, that how we run our own operations, the equipment we specify and dispose of, and the advice we give our clients all carry an environmental effect. This policy sets out our commitment to understanding, managing and reducing that effect. It is aligned with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 and provides the framework within which we set and review our environmental objectives.

Jargon explained  ISO 14001

An internationally recognised standard that sets out how an organisation identifies, manages, monitors and improves its impact on the environment. This policy follows the structure the standard expects of a top level environmental policy.

What we commit to

Our commitments

The core promises this policy is built on, in line with ISO 14001:2015.

Protect and prevent

Protect the environment and prevent pollution across our operations, including the responsible handling and disposal of electronic waste.

Meet our obligations

Comply with the environmental legislation and other requirements that apply to our business, and with the reasonable expectations of our clients.

Keep improving

Continually improve our environmental management and performance, setting measurable objectives and reviewing progress against them.

Use resources well

Use energy, materials and resources efficiently, and reduce waste wherever it is practical to do so.

Choose responsibly

Consider environmental impact when choosing suppliers, cloud services and hardware, favouring more efficient and longer lasting options.

Help our clients

Help clients reduce their own impact through the technology choices we recommend, from extending hardware life to enabling remote working.

Day to day

How we put this into practice

The practical steps behind the commitments above.

Energy and carbon
We keep our own IT estate lean, power down or sleep equipment when it is not in use, and favour energy efficient devices. Where we influence hosting and cloud decisions, we take providers' environmental commitments into account.
Electronic waste and IT lifecycle
We aim to extend the useful life of hardware through repair, reuse and redeployment before replacement. Equipment that reaches end of life is passed to licensed recyclers or reuse partners in line with the WEEE Regulations, with data securely erased beforehand.
Responsible procurement
When specifying hardware for ourselves or our clients, we consider durability, energy efficiency, repairability and, where suitable, certified refurbished options.
Travel and remote working
We deliver support remotely wherever it is effective, which reduces the need to travel. When travel is necessary, we plan it efficiently.
Paper and consumables
We work digitally by default and keep printing, packaging and single use consumables to a minimum.
Supporting our clients
Because our advice shapes our clients' IT, we treat greener technology choices as part of good practice rather than an optional extra.
Jargon explained  WEEE

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The UK regulations that govern how electrical items, from laptops to servers, must be collected, treated and recycled responsibly rather than sent to landfill.
